whats everyone putting dado at the height to bottom of it? Obviously it has to in the relation of the desks and tables on show what is it a metre roundabout?

If your work is to be Part 'P' compliant you will need the

Electrician's guide.  This has the required heights in it.

part p is houses I meant commercial environment I dont have an electricians guide!

I was not aware of the building type.  If you look at Part 'M'

(Access to buildings) the heights are in there.  You may be

looking at fitting to specified heights even in commercial

premises.

Last time we did some (a while back) given a table height, in real money, of 28", our to the bottom measurement was 33"

Sorry if this comes across funny but do you really need to ask such a question on an Internet forum!

Firstly people don't know anything about your install, what the room is used for etc.

I've mounted dado at all sorts of heights!!!

Ask the designer whoever that may be. If its you, then ask the client what they req.

There are many very knowledgable people on this forum but I don't think anyone can tell you your correct answer apart from quoting part m!!!!

Adding to my previous post, I hope you are aware that skirting

trunking was deleted by the 1st amendment to the 17th edition.

Do not fall into that trap if they ask you.

Nice one Steve!  If he is not on his marks he

could be talked into offering skirting trunking

without knowing it has been deleted by the 1st

amendment!

Just been on a job today one of companies sparks had fitted four whole offices out in skirting trunking and had sockets on oops

I weren't aware of this

Is there a reason ?

Its still allowed it just needs to be IPXXD or IP4X

The first amendment to BS7671:2008
“Requirements for electrical installations”
was issued on July1st 2011.

There is one section that has an effect on
cable management products.
Contained within this amendment there is a
requirement (521.10.1) for trunking systems
to provide the degree of protection IPXXD or
IP4X when used with single insulated cables.
IP4X and IPXXD relate to the degrees of
protection provided by enclosures (IP Code)
BSEN60529:1992.
IP4X  The access probe of 1.0mm ø
shall not penetrate.
IPXXD  The access probe of 1.0mm ø,
100mm length, shall have adequate
clearance from hazardous parts.

I was going purely on the contents of table 4A2 page 318.

Top of...numbers 13 & 14 (Skirting trunking)  deleted by

amendment  No 1.

Hope this settles it, and I have read Steve on reg 521.10.1

when the word changed from OR to AND, and I wonder if

skirting trunking can be opened WITHOUT the use of a tool.

Just wondering.

Technician,

You have got completely the WRONG end of the stick with that!

The reason they have been deleted, is that they are the same as methods 6 & 8 so it is not that they are disallowed, it is that they were a duplicate method.

Thus unnecessary.

Got that Sidewinder, many thanks.  I was reading methods 6 & 8

as separate from skirting trunking.
