In a way busses have auto control in that they can change traffic lights as they approach a junction.

Google's car has done over 1 million miles I believe and caused 1 death, which is a hell of a lot better than people manage. I can see this technology working, and working well, until some idiot in government tries to cut safety standards to allow more profit.....
Not really. Assuming each normal car does. 100,000 miles that would be a fatality for every ten normal cars. I would like to think people are better than that
