Welcome to the forum sb_89, I would say that the things you mention are not that uncommon as many of the NICEIC guide books, snags and solutions books and other similar publications have been around for a few years now. What one considers unusual will be proportional to the number of years a person has been a practicing electrician and the type of installations they work on, commercial, industrial, domestic, petrol stations, agricultural etc, as they all have their own quirks and specific regulations. Anything relating to Non-Conducting locations is going to be unusual 418. But personally I don't see much productive point in discussing the regs that people rarely have to refer to?Hi , I'm new and thought I would introduce myself with a few generally unusual reg facts, please feel free to add your own - or even tell me mine arn't that uncommon knowledge . here goes .....
Well.....If I were to get a length of copper pipe; cover it, in its entirety, with brown coloured lagging, and use it as a live conductor.............Which (if any) regs would it be in breach of????
n.b. Does anyone know the ccc of 15mm copper pipe (to table "Y").
Thanks
KME
Is that Concentric?Do you mean inside and out?Could we use it to supply your showers water/electric (combined) supplies?
if its 'water cooled', then you may be able to run it at a higher current than emptyIf I were to get a length of copper pipe; cover it, in its entirety, with brown coloured lagging, and use it as a live conductor.............Which (if any) regs would it be in breach of????

well evans , tell me something i dont know? it was only ment to be for fun , i thought people could add to the list maybe. BS 7671 is an extensive book, you cant retain everything and there will be somethings covered in it that you will probably never come across for example, i have never came across a VOELCB and i wouldnt of known how to test , id of referred to the book ....[/quoteSB Glad to hear its only in fun , can't always tell from the text, hence the use of thethings.
Some guys get all tied up with the Regs and will spend 2 hours consulting the Regs and the OSG and 5mins replacing the broken batten holder.
Others can quote them verbatum but can't make a Pyro end off.
Has anyone done any of the BRB wonder sections ?
Mobile units 717
Amusement devices /booths etc 740
IT systems
TN-C systems ( Oh yes I've done two of those)((Wierd)
IIRC, years ago a national chain (M&S?) used to be wired in 1 core pyro. never came accross it myself, apart from when someone has used a bit of straight con as a submain because the DNO left some spare....ahh the fabled TNC system .... where on earth did you come across that ? am i right in thinking that the nuetral and earth are connected thoughout the electrical installation ? I have never seen 1 .. and never met anyone else who had
