Hello,

In my kitchen I have two circuits of 8 x Philips Master LEDspot MV 5.5w spots. I wanted to be able to dim each circuit. After some research on the Philips site, for compatible products, I purchased an MK Double Gang 2 Way dimmer (8 - 48w) -K1527-WHI. However, fitting the dimmer has produced unsatisfactory results. The lights hardly dim at all. The dimmer has very little effect.

Any advice?

Many thanks,

Andy.

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies. The LEDs are definitely dimmable.
I purchased the MK K1527WHI dimmer based on a Philips compatibility guide
The GU10 5.5s are nine bulbs from the left. Apparently the MK1527WHI can drive 1 - 10 of the bulbs. I had presumed this was per gang. Maybe that's wrong?
Thanks,
Andy.

Humm, I see what you are saying. I think the K1527WHI is designed to operate LED bulbs, so I had assumed the 8-48w rating related specifically to LEDs, rather than having to apply the 10% rule. I have sent an e-mail to MK and see what they say :)

Many thanks.

The k1527 is designed to work certain philips led lamps. It's possible that yours aren't compatible. Led dimming can be a bit tricky.

the k1534??? May work better..

8 lamps per dimmer should be fine.

Some dimmers like the aurora model have some adjustment on. With these you can adjust the minimum dimming level.

Best bet, as others have said is to check with philips and get the compatability chart for your lamp.

Fitting a Danlers Resload on each bank will sometimes work, its not the load thats the issue its the extra low load, they work with one or two downlights, but then the more low load you add the dimmer cannot see the additional low load.

Try the the dimmer with just one or two lamps and see what happens, if the dimmer is still no good then try a different dimmer.

Hi Andy,

Was going to reply yesterday, but wanted to test this here first.

We tested 6 x Philips Master LEDSpot on a dimming rig with a Varilight JQP401 dimmer.

The results were impressive, with full smooth dimming from 100% down to at least 10%. No flicker at any point.

This same module is used in a huge range of V-Pro dimmers, so you wouldn't be limited on finish choice either:

Hope this helps.

Great, Many thanks Robin. I bought the orignal switch from fastelec, so will see if they will exchange.

Many thanks,

Andy.
