disabled alarm

can anybody tell me if you NEED to HAVE a disabled toilet alarm in a factory please? cheers

afaik if its a disabled loo it needs an alarm wherever it is.

I'm just pricing for same at some offices but whether its mandatory I don't know . I'd suggest checking the Building Regs . or the Disabled Persons Employment Act. ( if there is such a thing)

As a sparks I don't involve myself with the legal side of stuff like that, not my remit. That would be the responsibility of the management /owners of the factory ,which may be yourself of course.

What your looking for is the DDA - Disabled Discrimination Act it's the one that says that you have have doors x wide lifts so people can get to upper floors etc

I've found it very hit and miss regardless of what it says anyway, some places do comply fully, some don;t. Other places are forced to comply, others aren't. I'm pretty much with Deke, leave it up to someone else. If they want it, fit it, if they don't, don't.

The office toilets I'm quoting were built about 15 yrs ago , disabled toilets yes but no alarms. Interested to see the outcome though , as Lurch says , some places have them, some don't even have a disabled toilet and no one seems to bother them .

For whats it worth, where my wife works they built a disabled toilet for her last year and they installed an alarm.

Funny thing is, I just asked my wife whether she had a disabled toilet alarm and she just replied (honestly) " Now I know whats been bleeping in the loo since monday!" LOL
