Evevning all, A client of mine is having problems with an x tennant. Dont want to get heavily involved but cant seem to find any info on allowable diversity in commercial kitchens, I dont think there would be much but tennant says there must be some, Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks did have a look but I think this kitchen would be classed as bigger than a small hotel etc. To be honest dont really want to get involved as its going to court was just looking for a bit more info to put on the statment!

All you can do is list the items, by load size & average times of usage; then calculate it back.

If you`re REALLY stuck, and the job could have any repercussions on you, phone your area engineer (mine`s on speed dial). He`ll be able to advise you.

There IS no specific information on allowable diversity...

It is down to the installation designer.

See second paragraph of On Site Guide Appendix 1 (Max demand & Diversity)

page 95.

Diversity is not specific to any particular installation.

All the rules and calculations, will apply to ALL.

However you must assume that in any commercial kitchen, there will be a greater demand, what I do is look in the OSG tables, it saves me loads of time working out all the figures.

You will however find that in most commercial situations the design will be for total demand without diversity, as this would allow for additions to the installation at later dates.
