Do standard accessories have an IP rating??

I'm talking about standard white plastic sockets, FCUs, lightswitches etc. They must have some rating to keep fingers and dust out, but what????

British Standards would apply in this case. With a socket it applies to things like shutters , sleeved pins on plug tops, the distance of the pins from the edge to prevent a child's fingers touching them while live etc . If there is an IP rating it would be low .

Same as anything else I'd imagine..

IP2X for the top surface and IP4X for all other surfaces (once installed IAW instructions)

IP2X or IPX2 rings a bell with me, but couldn't find anything on manufacture's websites

yea, IP2X and IP4X, one means you cant get a finger into touch a live part and the other means you cant get a pice of 1mm cable into touch a live part. So going by what NOZ said IP2X would be the finger and IP4X being a pice of cable.
