Right my inspection is this week so im just double checking that the way i have filled in the eic is correct for domestic submain.

I have used one eic, but 2 set of test results and tick list.

In the first page i have filled out all theinfo that relates to the main db in the house ie supply, main switch etc ets

On the results sheets,

no:1, i have labled as db1 swa submain and filled in the recorded results

No:2

tested all the circuits in the garage and recorded results.

Under ze on the first page i have wrote the zdb.

Please correct if wrong as i have a couple of days yet.

Sounds ok to me how you've done it.

On the NICEIC certs (mine are old ones now mind) the top line of the reslts sheet can be used for submain results "if the cu is not connected directly to the main supply" or words to that effect.

The easycert certificates are the same.

Any one got a link or a cert were there is space to fill in the sub main would be much better??

To be honest I would not worry how you have filled it out.

On your inspection the assessor will guide you in how your paticular body like them filled in.

I personally do 2 certs or more, one for each db.

The first cert should show the measured Ze, because this is external to the installation, the second cert should be Zdb. All my certs are serial numbered so I cant really borrow one page from another, so I do seperate ones.

so much easier using you own certs, at least you can easily replace/add a page

well as long you all agree i filled them in ok then i will leave as is. just worried about failing due to paperwork wrong.

Don't worry , you'll be fine, who are you going with ? If he can see that you have an understanding of test procedures you'll be OK . You don't have to be like one of those who has swallowed the Regs book , leave that to them.

And don't forget , its in their own interest to increase membership !! If you have just a basic C&Gs there,s no reason not to enlist you.

As I said before ,

I'm with ELECSA, they have a friendly approach . They wanted to see that I gave written quotes for one , instead of back of a *** packet stuff. Also that you have the Regs and the On Site Guide , impressed by any technical books etc. I don't think they are too bothered about this warranty stuff , I'm sure I'm not. Have they asked you to have a complaints book ?

Like to see that you run your outfit in a busnesslike way.

On site they get you to carry out a couple of tests and see the general standard of your work. He stumped me by asking why we do the the X5 ( fast trip) on RCDs . It was something I did'nt know. Tested the Ze and asked if if it was the sort of reading I'd expect.

Third assesment was a different guy , got me to drop five chrome downlights in a kitchen , looking for open connectors I guess, all done with j/bs though.

Its a bit nerve wracking for all of us , just be yourself , you'll be fine.

Oh , have you got calibration certs for testers , you';ll need those .

you get a pack from elecsa with all documents you need, template complaints forms, template written quotes etc. takes 10 mins to make your own in word/excel working from these. so far my complains register still has 0 complaints in....

You will be fine,

just chill,

keep a bit of common sense, ALWAYS apply SAFE working practices..

and if in doubt refer to your books...

YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW EVERYTHING OFF BY HEART!!!! ;)

:) :x

Sounds like you have covered all the bases ( risk assessments , what are they!! :D ) They have your cheque and won't want to give it back, and if you are ex NIC you know the score. They make me nervous too which is ridiculous as I 've been in the trade for over 40 years. Doesn't mean I know everything, far from it ! Trouble is they keep moving the goalposts.

Relax , you're as good as in.B-)

How did it all go then db? Also what made you leave NIC? I'm researching which body to go with now. I have heard good things about Elecsa and bad about NIC, little about NAPIT and bugger all about ECA or BSI. NIC appeals because of the publics perception, their name is on a lot of vans and is probably noticed. I am sad and look out for these things and don't remember seeing ELECSA.

Can anyone give any advice please?

Cheers
