42 x 35w = 1575 w

= 6.84 amp  diversity brings it to 4 ampish

1mm on 2 ccts will be fine but split the ccts up by rooms

but you would know this

I would like to see your quote for the job,,,,,,,,,i would bet you will under price it.......

so show us if you don't mind

Thanks theory I was working it out on 50w.

So I can run the switch wires in 1mm and loop in 1.5mm.

I was going to split it anyway. Did think about putting it on a 10A mcb but thought 2 circuits is better.

Why mix cable sizes?

What makes you think 1mm is no good for a 6A circuit?

Issues when joining 1mm and 1.5mm together etc.

Getting two 1.5mm's into some downlighters is somewhere between a challenge, and downright impossible.

10 amp would be fine but

if it trips you lose all the lighting hence why we like to split it

it will cost them a lot  for all those lights

I reckon you could spend a day setting the them out avoiding joists and lining them up  and that's if you are quick

don't see the prob with mixing 1 and 1.5 as long as its put on the cert

prefer to use 1mm for downlights  as ProDave says a pain

Pro dave I was concerned about the loading

Theroy I was thinking setting out the lights was going to be a real pain. Then there is a lot of connecting.

So you both think I could do it all in 1mm. That would be great if I could be a bit cheaper and all the existing cable is 1mm save a bit of time on struggling with switch wires

1mm is 10amp

1.5mm is 13amp

allow 15min per downlighter to connect

that's not running cables etc  that's second fix

The other thing I forgot to mention. Is that all the lights are dim able that's another reason why I was working on 50w per light

Theory just spoke to the customer because he hasn't bought the lamps yet he is going to get led ones now. So that changes everything

to be fair there are still people out there who don't want them

Shiner the fact the customer wants leds changes nout,,,ok the demand will be a lot less on each cct but you still need to have 2

something else to consider though,,being professional as we all are on here,,what if they change their mind in the future or move and they want halogens in ???

this is called future proofing   as was pointed out to me on my first assessment, even though the job was done to the regs

Theory was still going to keep 2 cct. The customer is renting the property out. I hear what you are saying about future proofing but I think the customer will always get some one in to do the electrics. Not the type to get his hands dirty if you know what I mean. Also doesn't want to spend any more money at the moment
