All LABC notifications incur charges... Just the same as with numerous other types of building works..
And a DIY can undertake most works, (including electrical), but they would need to provide relevant plans, drawings etc...
of the design and construction of the proposed works...
And allow LABC inspectors to verify the DIY work is compliant with all building regs relevant standards..
If you are using an electrician to undertake any notifiable electrical work that they can notify on your behalf, then those charges will just be included in the electricians invoice costs. I doubt many electricians would itemise the Part-P LABC compliance costs on their Estimates/Quotes/Invoices... I know I don't!!?
You would need to google your own local LABC website, to try and find out what their typical costs are for confirming Part-P building regs compliance for various types of electrical notifications... [ CU replacement, New circuits, Rewire etc.. ]
IMPORTANT NOTE: There are NO standard costs that ALL LABC's must adhere to...
So there are no simple, "one-size-fits-all" answers that apply to everyone.... "Postcode lottery" springs to mind!
BUT... Most LABC charges for confirming compliance for DIY work are much higher than when a competent electrician is confirming electrical safety and compliance...
The bottom line is that "Technical Tick" is always a key issue..... i.e. If the pooh hits the fan at a later date, who is to blame!!??
Do the LABC accept any responsibility / liability...
Or can they pass-the-buck onto an electrician/electrical business that certified and notified the works as safe and compliant!?
