hI,

Simpletons question.

When wiring GU10s theres no place to put the cpc (in the t&e) only a little choc block in the plastic box attached to the downlight with room for P & N. Are these class 2 DI and do not require earth connection or should earths be interlinked between the 5 downlights as theres no way of doing r1+r2 if the earths have been cut off. Stupid question i know.

Also these cant be wired in twin flex can they?

Thanks

:pray

Even though the enclosures are class II, the cables supplying each down light needs to have a cpc. So yes interlink the cpc's between each fitting, continuity should then be checked by you r1+r2 test.

;)

I always thought that all new cabling should have a cpc connected in case of it being chopped or damaged !!

I stand back and wait for the argument !!

No argument, that is the way it should be.

If there is no terminal for the CPC most people will just chop it off, it should be connected through though, and in a suitable enclosure so really you're looking at JB or similar at each light with a short length of twin flex to each light.

Where did you get those DL's any GU10's I've had always have a 3 way chock block in them even cheap Chinese made cack from toolstation (customer bought not me before anyone jumps on me:D)

I've fitted loads of GU10's with only 2 terminals in the lid, some cheap, some not so cheap. Suppose it doesn't seem much but a 33% saving on money spent on connector blocks might be worth a few quid to the manufacturer, *******s.
