Thanks for the replies guys, I think file recovery may be the solution.

A lesson learned, I only ever backup media files, important documents normally, from now on ill have to be aware of program files too, or at least the installation exe files.

This was never meant to be a thread flaming the software creator, or about me feeling I'd been hard done by, if you read my first post, I just wanted help to get up and running again.

Thanks for the helpful responses I now have something to go on to get up and running again as it should be, fingers crossed I can recover the files.

Well, cheers to those who are just pointing out the obvious, yes, I now know I needed to back up that exe, in all my years I have never had this problem where previous versions of software were nowhere to be founding the net.

Perhaps you could help me by pointing out how I would extract the exe from my old laptop after it was formatted?

Even better, an alternative that runs on osx would be amazing, or Linux for that matter, I've had to install a virtual machine just for the sake of this software anyway.

Perhaps I came here asking the wrong question (just for a back up if anyone missed that, some seem to think I wanted sympathy, those people never made a mistake in their lives clearly)

So what alternatives are there for osx?
Ive never been able to get easycert to work properly on Linux [ubuntu/redhat/BT], always have issues with .dll files, its a NO GO on Linux AFAIAA.
