I read another article on this recently .     As many may know , Scotland has  gone with  a mandatory gas & Electric cert for rentals ,   England is looking into it .

The last thing I read , which Part Peed me off a treat  was that it was fronted by Baroness  Somebodyorother   who stated that  if & when  it goes ahead , testing  will not be carried out by  the existing  Competent  Persons schemes  but a new , specialised body .      So yet another layer of carp  and a kick in the face for the rest of the trade.

There is a lot of unrest in this trade at the moment.

Several groups planing protests against the JIB & IET in one form or another.

The IWGB(independent Workers GB), EWRI (electricians work rights initiative) & sidewinders mates in E5 are all on the case, so hopefully we may see some changes in the future.

The last update was that it would be existing schemes and that nothing new would be required, but I'll check.

I hope that will be the case  , but all I read is the opposite .

When I first read about rental properties being inspected  I was thinking in terms of me & my equally aged comrade perhaps doing them , as real sparkying is getting  harder by the  year now .

NIC Approved Contractors/NAPIT Full Scope/Stroma Full Scope are already assessed for EICRs so likely the changes for them will be minimal and the lower end schemes like NIC Domestic Installer and Elecsa will either have to upgrade or face extra charges to become assessed.

That idea was rejected when they voted on it afaik. SparkyNinja has video on the whole debacle that's worth watching
