Hi, I used to have an electric cooker but I have gotten a gas one now instead. The gas one requires s standard plug socket to be plugged in but the only socket close enough is the one from the electric cooker. it has a blanket cover over at the moment would it be OK to just put a plug socket on that?

Is the the cooker outlet (which you intend to change for a socket outlet) behind the gas cooker? Check the manufacturer's instructions about where a plug can be sited, most gas ovens vent out the back and could melt the plug.
