I think this decision can only be made on the basis of what you need.

What sort of motoring are you doing, and if you are considering fully electric , can you easily add a decent charge point at home?

personally my work van needs to be diesel as I don’t think there are electric alternatives, plus my van isn’t that old nor has it done many miles

my misses petrol car on the other hand rarely does more than 40 miles so electric could be a sensible alternative when we need to change it, which isn’t going to be anytime soon.

Plug in hybrid is best option at the moment in my opinion. Assuming you have access to a plug-in point you can use when the vehicle isn't in use.  Not limited by charge points on long journeys, meets congestion zone requirements for no charge (don't quote me on that). Electric is cheaper than diesel or petrol so handy for around town motoring. Acceleration is almost as good as a motorcycle!  In my opinion, all electric is only any good of you have a drive / garage so you can guarantee accessing a fitted charge point and use the vehice for short commuter journeys only.  There's a lot more charge points for longer journeys, but....

We got a hybrid.  For us the choice was we could afford it, and it is £0 road tax.  At the moment there are no pure EV cars that we can afford.  That will no doubt change.

I have a charging point at the office and could fit one at home, it round 35 miles to the office and vice versa, i think Plug in Hybrid sounds a good option.
