Elex 2012....well that's 4 hours of my life I will never get back!

So I went to Elex at Event City Manchester

Waited for 10 mins to get in then the twonk on the door [homeland security consultant or summat] decided it was the wrong door!! FFS so anyone who was at fron tof 'old queue' ended up at back of 'new queue'...so missing the 'freebis stampede'

When you got in you had to queue again as nobody knew what to do, no signs up BUT if you had received a ticket then you were waived through [when somebody realised this, I think it was a bit of a fricking secret]

Inside was OK....[i have met Megger Mark, he does have a human form] and got a free case for my cable rods. Bought some Wagos [cheaper than my suppliers], bought some flexible cable rods [nylon ones] and a 3 hook hookie adaptor.

Got some lighting and whole house music info

Listened to a bit of Seminar twaddle [ NICEIC...buy a BUM cam then you can see if there is any thermal damage behind recessed lights].............soooooo that will be in the next fricking ammendment no-doubt.

Toolfair was actually more interesting, on the whole it was all just a little bit 'flat' in my opinion

I can recommend the NICEIC pencils!...I am pencil rich

Well when you look around at the Electrical Safety Council and the NIC people it gives the impression of [this is purely my personal opinion you understand :innocent ] a bunch of self promoting jobsworths that spend most of their time telling each other how good they have done, whilst at the same time actually avoiding any direct answers!

The seal Fairy was mentioned AND the fact that there is a 99% chance that all smart meters will be fitted with an isolator...or they might not be! So that has settled that argument then....... :coat

2 from girls on entrance door as I had Registered twice!...once for Toolfair and Once for Elex...and the badge said 'free T shirt' so I stood my ground and got 2

Also, I have just realised a design error with the Cable Rod case...it is Black.

One of the Rods I have is the glow in the dark version, it needs to live in a clear tube so that it gets 'charged up' by daylight!!! But I think I have a better use for it to house my 'Smoke Pole' as last time I walked through a shopping centre with it I nearly had a security guards eye out with it!

Applied for an account with Denmans and got a free Games Console for the Grandchildren to play with/destroy!

Nice to meet Mark though...top bloke! I should really have got another Fluke Tester as a backup, at those prices I was mad not too, ah well hindsight and all that

Yes, some of he totty was very nice, but some of it was he usual, sorry love, but you not really as nice as you think oh are, the marks girls were very very pretty, and very good chat too, not pretentious or up themselves, and the Milwaukee girls very pretty too.

I was just not very happy as i walked about skint.

Yeh the twonk of a security guard annoyed me n streety as it was us at the very front (1st there) then 40mins after seeing us start queuing there told us it other door by this time the queue had gotten bigger

Still: got some freebies and bargains

Superods, rcd powerbreaker,plug,do log volt stick, (missed the dewalt cap)

Opened account with denmans n got free kewtechnic driver set,

Tshirts of megger mark along with a super rod bag and little hook kit for our rods,

Also bought a few bits, iv already got the Armeg single elec box sinker kit so I bought the double one, we also got some Wago connectors and some Ideal Splices few new bahco drivers eclipse spark knife n 3 driver set and an Armeg Football. Lots of pens and some sweeties!

All in all it was a good day and well worth gettin there at 8am

It actually looked a bit like a Star Wars convention with the majority of people walking around with 'Super Rod Light Sabres'

They should have taken us into a darkened corner and let us 'battle' with the glowing rods! OK , 'nuff said, should get out more............... :coat

Missed the DiLog Voltstick, didn't bother with Greenwood Stand.....on reflection I suppose the day was not that bad

If you want cheering up go to the Elex website, exhibitors section and see how much they charge for the accessories for the stands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kerching it did look like star wars convention yes, we went and put ours in the car so we didn't have to carry them round but did end up with loads of carrier bags and of course a denmans bag which got loaded up aswell!

I'm tempted to write a letter of complaint abt the twonk of a security guard watching us all stand there queuing n not telling us we was at the wrong door!

Looking at the size of the 'lobby' what was the problem with letting people queue inside?

....and why did the people on the registration desk not know what to do?? FFS I queued for 5 minutes so that some twonk could tear the bottom half off my ticket and throw it on a table and then twonk II folded my pass in half! I suppose it is a job
