external power socket

Hi

I am only a trainee spark so please forgive my silly question, i have a lot to learn, i was asked today by a mate, if his sockets are RCD protected at the consumer unit, and he wanted to put a weather proof socket on the outside of his house to power a water feature does it need incorporate a RCD or will the consumer unit one suffice?

only one RCD is needed in the circuit. just make sure RCD at consumer unit is 30mA and not 100mA. and make sure it works
