I am putting this hear because I feel that if I am not taking measurements and doing something with them, I fall off the wagon... and I have no desire to go to the slimming world group with the missus!.

Anyway, I guess I am not the only one here who needs to loose a few, however I am probably the one who needs it by the greatest degree!

Right here goes (I am officially a fat git)... the scales in boots this morning read 23st, 4lb. Aiming for 21st 7lb by christmas and 19 by start of next summer.

Anyone else won't to 'fess up for eating too many pies?!

Well Phoenix, I'm 14 ish but feel I need to loose a few lbs, so I regularly run a few miles each week and just be aware of what i eat and find that helps keep things in trim-ish. Although recently I've been having a few units of beer per week and have noticed that that's not helping the waistline!!

Good luck with yours.

So you're one of the annoying chaps who is at the chippy next door every lunch time... but is as thin as a rake? !!! grrr!

@Phoenix, just a little tip. It might be worth getting a tape measure out and actually take measurements in inches (no, not there! :slap  ) to keep track of your weightloss. If you start exercise and gain muscles then you might find you get disheartened because the actual weight on the scales don't change much although your body is.

Also, as much as weightloss from a pure physical health perspective is good if you are carrying excess weight, a number on a set of scales is not the key to happiness.

I suppose you're worried about his joints ;)

There is a thought that's gaining credence that previous over use of antibiotics kills good gut bacteria that regulates weight. Similarly the food we eat, even the non junk stuff, is so sanitised we have no chance of replacing the good bugs we might have lost. A fecal transplant from a skinny bastad with "good" bacteria may normalise weight in chubsters.

Phoenix, pm Andy your address and look out for a parcel that's got flies round it!

Joking aside there's some serious science behind this idea.

Btw, I'm 17st 7lbs but at 6'5" carry it well! :)

Certainly not. As we all know, cake is the key to happiness.

That's somewhere where I need to end up eventually.... I'm 6'4" and I don't think people believe me that I am the wrong side of 20 stone, it doesn't show as much when you are tall!

Good luck with it anyway Phoenix  ,it will be hard work but worth it .    You are twice my weight   , I don't intend any insult by that , just thinking that my electrician's knees are beginning to give out now , even at my weight .

Sometimes you need a shock to help you ,    thinking I had cancer years ago , effectively stopped me smoking .

The disappearance of my boozing friends effectively reduced my drinking ,   one with leukemia  , one from death .

I could do witth losing some weight again....

I was 18 1/2 st a couple of years ago and got down to 15st 2lb.... my aim was 13 1/2 - 14st.....

I've slipped off the wagon for the last year or so and I've slowly climbed back up to 17st 6lb :(

I always knew when my ex missus was on a diet.

I'd open my lunch box at work and find 4 slices of Slimcea with 2 razor cut slices of ham.

The ham was cut thinner than a microscope sample, if you held it up you could see light through it.

No butter or marge on the bread either.

There would be no little cake to eat or sugar in my thermos of black tea.

Meanwhile back at the ranch many packets of biscuits etc were being eaten, the excuse being,

" I'M EATING SMALLER MEALS SO I'M ACTUALY EATING LESS THAN YOU SO LEAVE ME ALONE "

Eventually I would rebel and go to the chippy or supermarket to get food.

I'd always put the wrappers of whatever ate in my lunchbox so she'd see them when I got home.

After a week or so I'd be confronted with,

" If you're NOT going to support me in this diet I might as well give up!!"

" Don't you CARE what I look like?"

Things would be tense for a few days but at least I was getting fed again.
