I use a fax machine for communicating with work from home. Can be quicker if you want to send a document and don't want to scan it, email it etc.

I have a multi-function printer that prints, scans, faxes and photocopies. Quite a nice compromise IMO

:)

Got rid of mine 2 years ago as I needed the space on my desk. Didn't replace it & can't say I've ever missed it.

Yes still get some people on site with phone fax no internet access,a lot of sites I go to are restricted to landline and fax only even take mobile of you if there is a camera function on it.

Good point unable to be contacted until I return to car, person who is after you have usually gone home by then.

Tomorrow's another day.Dont mention Blackberry's.

Goverment giving any help to anyone on here.

10 billion availible.

I used ours a lot but it kept interfering with the incoming phone calls ( Same line) making squelchy noises . Took it out in the end, but found it great for writing out a list for the wholesaler, on the evening , page is waiting for them in the morning.

Send email now but they don't read them half the time, so still have to phone to make sure they look at it.

probably use it 2 times a year so ink is knackered when i want it lol

I brought a second hand one on ebay which is a laser fax. Didn't pay much for it had it for a few years. I don't use it much but it is handy for copying documents and the odd fax if you want to send or receive one.

I hardy use fax....

I could probably count on one hand the times I had to use my PC as fax over past 3 years!

BUT

saying that...

heres a question...

many years ago a Fax contract was considered a legally binding document..

is that true of e-mails now'er day???

(I dunno... just wondering) ?:|

Advantage of fax..

when it is transmitted you do know it has got through to the other end...

An e-mail.. however, could take a long time if parts of the internet are down or slow!!

now there's food for thought as we go off to our beds! :) :D

We use ours FAIRLY regularly......

As trailer boy says - direct transfer, they can send a doc to sign, you sign it & send it back.

Not used every week, but handy to have available (`pache, I too have a multi function (and a seperate photo printer))

Use my computer for sending faxes but faxes are sent to a special number which is then sent to me as an email.
