Fed up with it !!

I have a job where we fitted "quality"  LED garden light fittings  but the drivers keep packing up after a few months and Muggings  Electric  has to keep going back at his own expense.   £120  in call backs to date. 

Just had a call from another job ,  door entry for disabled person 4 weeks ago ,   the Door Open Button  doesn't work .!

This happens with annoying regularity with all sorts of gear , usually electronic ,  always of far eastern origin   ( Although door entry is Italian  I bet the electronics are far eastern) 

Now its back again to sort it out  , could be the phone , could be the door lock ..... all down to me to sort for sod all!!

My bugbear is PIR light sensors.

I fitted a new one at the village hall last week as the old one had packed up.  So I install it in daylight, with the lux setting on the daylight setting. It works fine. Set the time, then turned the lux setting round to night.

SWMBO was off out in the evening so I asked her to call round and just check it comes on. It didn't.

so now I have set it up again and turned the lux setting only part way round so it only just does not trigger in daylight. I await the next time one of us is out in the dark to try it again.  Lots of bu99ering about that should not be necessary.

Of course it may be faulty, in which case I have to return it and replace it, which I won't get paid any extra for.
 

To some extent this is why I don't mind the customer supplying the materials. If it's faulty, the customer gets to return it and gets to pay my time for fitting the replacement.

How about setting them at home before you go to the job , if you know the job in advance. Time well spent.

 I'm sick of lettuced gear too.

Perhaps stop getting your gear from alibaba's and try a reputable wholesaler!!

quality of gear is generally falling across the board. I generally set PIRs about half way on the lux, as long as it doesn't come on during bright daylight it doesn't matter if it comes on when getting to dusk rather than full night time.
