hi guys looking for advice, just met a custome rwho i service a fire alarm system for,

he has been told he has to have a sounder and weatherproof call point installed outside the 2 rear basement flats. no access from main building and therefore this involves getting a cable from control panel round to the rear of the building.

now the situation i have is as follows, to get to the rear of the building the cables will have to be run externally, will this require to be run in conduit? or could you simply clip the cable to the wall and then as customer suggested paint the cable as with done with there tv aerials etc?

from the control panel round to the rear externally is 48 metres away so a fair amount of conduit, bends etc if it has to be done this way.

If it's external do you need fire rated for this part of cable run? Just thinking you could possibly use Syflex or SWA.
Know this is an older post - but yes, cable must be fire rated.

FP200 can be surface clipped externally, with metal P clips. As it is an open area, it should be enhanced, to avoid issues with the cable being run outside the protected area.

The same would apply when interlinking fire panels from one building to another.

Cheers

Bill.
