Very expensive new Rangemaster cooker. No markings on terminals. Terminals mounted on the thinnest flexible metal plate available. No destructions included. Red, black, green/yellow cables at terminals.

Which way would you wire it?

But the cooker needs to be used now. The internets down and the phones broke. How would you wire it.

Sidewinders not playing.

Anyway job was last week. Middle of knowhere, no service, no tinternet, no destructions. Needed to be used asap.

One would think red line and black neutral?

This is too obvious.

There's a RED, a BLACK and a GREEN/YELLOW

If I state the obvious about how I would wire it, I would be wrong. There's clearly more to it otherwise you would not have set the puzzle.

Well - isn`t it obvious?

It wants an earth ( GY) ; an old L1 ( red), and a newer L2 ( black).

erm - good luck finding a cable with THAT configuration in it!!!!! :slap

What does the rating plate say?

Just about any intercom system that's "cheap" they arent really cheap but always made of nasty plastic.

A few wires, circuit board and a tranformer can't really cost that much surely!

Even worse when they're modified and the carpenters been at them :(

Well. the whole story is i went to install said cooker. I just needed to see what cable they spec for the final connection but there was no install manual. I managed to eventually contact get the shop to see if they had a copy to have a look. There was no specific cable stated. Twin & earth will do!  The terminals are only numbered, 1,2,3 have black cable , 4,5,6 have red.  Turns out 1,2,3 are live, 4,5,6 are neutral.

They were only labeled 1,2,3,4,5,6. Its the shop who told me the wiring configuration. They were right, i checked a wiring diagram online when i got home.
