Hello all

Got the job to fit an extractor fan that I mentioned in a previous thread but the property is a fairly new ground floor flat which has a wooden structure then bricked on the outside how do I stand with fire barriers if I cut a hole in the plasterboard downstairs would it affect the fire barrier to the flats above or to the side never worked on one of these wooden frame flats that are bricked up outside

Normally the fire break would extend into the cavity on each floor.

When you drill to an external wall you are safe and not compromising the fire barriers.

This is very different if it was a staicase or adjoining wall which will require exra fire precausions.

If in doubt you could use an intermittant mat cut to the shape of the fan, this will provide an exra barrier, and give a little extra protection.

I hate you all :)

Smarty pants the lot of you!

Ok I do not spell chech its because I type faster than I can see the keyboard, and my eyesight being nearly 50 is rapidly dete deteri detri (failing)
