I wasn't actually towing it .....just parked in front of it .
now now Deke,

my missus did actually ask what one of my pikey friends had the new shiney caravan outside Hercules stable...

dont be shy,

I agree. Very frustrating. I think it is linked to cyclist deaths/injuries in the capital but as usual it is being over egged by bringing any ban in the same category as a HGV.

Apparently you cannot work for LUL without it.

I have not read into it enough yet but if you own vehicle(s) you need this. There is a bronze, silver, gold standard but who wants to be bronze?
who exactly is it that sees that as being a problem, rather than a solution?  :C

I'd like names please.......

God knows. When I get all the 'standards' set up for the audit I will have more of an idea. Paper work saves lives. Surely you know that. (Tongue in cheek alert!)

At >£500 per year + VAT, for a single vehicle single person company, I won't be going down the FORS route!

Especially as the vehicle is <3k5kg gross.

I can see that they want to improve road safety, but TBH, it's just a rip off.

I bet you that not all LUL contractors have this.

They will have two sets of rules, one for the "run of the mill" work, electrical, civils, plumbing etc., and one for the specialists, OEM's and consultants.

Can you really see a business consultant joining FORS for his car, he's probably not even eligible.

if i had 1 customer who insisted on it, they would be told it will only happen if they pay for it & do all the necessary work required. wonder if they would then see sense?

It depends on how much work that customer gives you I suppose. This one could be a big deal to me so I will swallow the cost and re-evaluate after a year. The thing is it is not only the FORS cost but the cost in setting up the policies to meet the standard.

Some times clients need a bit of a kiss and a cuddle to make them feel special. Haha

I've done it both ways Essex.

I appreciate that this client would be a huge potential business area for you, and an serious extension to what you do.

Me, now at this point in time I would fall into the camp of them either giving me an exemption, or I would fall into the Andy's camp and tell them what for, because I'm too old to take this bull these days.

I now pick & choose customers as much as customers pick and choose me.

I know a guy who thinks that it's great to have as many accreditations as possible (so it seems)

He's NICEIC approved

Gas safe - natural & LPG

MCS - biomass, heat pump & solar

OFTEC - for oil boilers

and something else for solid fuel fires IIRC

FFS he's only got 1 person working for him so how the hell does he fit all the work in that having these accreditations brings

+ it must be costing him £5k+ a year for them

We have a few but hopefully no more. The guy who writes our polices is trying to sell us 9001 but we are not there yet.

Not so time consuming........ a utility company we work for insists on all vehicles having those ' cyclists do not pass on the inside' stickers on the rear.
seen a few custom 'suicide side' and 'safe side' with a cycle symbol. but then we all know cyclists leave all common sense at home. they are indestructible and dont have to go by any road laws afterall. at least that is until they go along the lhs of a vehicle turning left when they want to to straight ahead...
