Hi,

After reading M107 post about the siren used from the cold war he found, whats the most interesting things youve ever found whilst in the course of electrical work?

Apart from the usual rampant rabbits etc lol

Cheers

Whats one of them, do you work in the countryside?

i'm so nosey, i can't help it. So any chance i get i'm looking for interesting things.

Can't name of the top of my head, but used to love going to all the interesting places in the hospitals, fridges, pathology, morg, operating theatres. Also working in old nhs buildings with priest holes from the nearest church. Sharoe green old hospital in preston used to be a factory with slaves living underneath. The undercroft is still the same and very very eerey.

my dad is a what i call a skiprat, when he was working in a factory he spotted an unusal object, he had no idea what it was, he took it out and looked some more, he hit it with a hammer to break it, droped it on the floor and came to the conclusion that it was old door weight, it turned out to be a WWII unexploded bomb, whole factory evacuated and bomb squad called in. still thake the mick out of him now

hmm as a kid I used to play on a disused firing range on a headland nearby. (this was in the 1970s) we used to find 303 bullets and shell cases and used to flog them at school. One day I found a mortar bomb still intact. We threw it at rocks expecting it to go off like in the cartoons with a puff of smoke. Eventually we tossed it off a cliff in disgust as it refused to detonate. Looking back I'm glad it didnt as I wouldnt be here now typing this!

my dad said he used to put bullets in planks of wood were a knot had been pushed out and then hit the bullet with a hammer. I dont remember were he got the bullets from but it was just after wwii
