Hello,

Got a bit stumped to day. Extended a ring in a kitchen. When to 2nd fix and discovered that there is a 6mm feeding what I think is a junction box and then the ring goes out from there.

Any one seen this before?

End to end reading of 0.12 l and n!

I have seen this method a few times now. normally a 6mm is ran to a MK grid switch bank, then each applience is indvidually fused from this feed.

No it's not a grid. installed a grid of the ring. Only feeds ex fan dishwasher and frige. Very low power. Feed off the 2.5 / 6.0mm haha

Think about it...

You have a 6.0/2.5 circuit which can carry >32A dependant on installation method that is feeding a 2.5/1.5 ring which can carry ???

So long as the terminations are accessible and safely enclosed then it's ok

I have done this a few times in 1960's flats with solid floors and the supply on the other side of the property. The cooker control would be the only socket in the kitchen, now redundant 6 or 10mm cooker feed (as there is a gas cooker) so convert it. Usually the cooker control was mounted quite high so a junction box or trap cut into the back of the new wall cupboard is fitted. I have also seen a small C/Unit fitted on the end with a few circuits (when 10mm/40A breaker is present)
