I have clients with 720kb floppy drives in their machines and we still need to support them, the upgrade costs would run  into £100k's!

I actually have a client with a 360kb 5.25" fdd in their machine, we are both praying that this keeps going long enough for them to be able afford to replace it.

Anyone any suggestions, please, the disk has been formatted, it would help a LOT!
What tools have you tried so far? Was it a quick or a full format? Has the disk been overwritten?

I'd second the Recuva suggestion, if the newer versions no longer have floppy support you can scour the usual places for an older version. Here's the build details.

Marvo,

None when I posted as I was searching straight after I had posted.

I have recovered some of the files, some are showing as damaged.

I'll have to see what else I may need, or not as the case may be...

photorec ?

but you need some form of plugging the floppy into the interrogating machine,  usb floppy drive?

is a 3.5" floppy a normal little disc that came in computers about 10years ago?

if so I think I have a ide drive somewhere......

Steps,

I have a couple of USB 3.5" FDD, if I could get a 5.25 one at a reasonable cost & a usb adaptor I would, but, I failed to find a USB to 5.25" FDD interface, it seems they don't exist?

I do still have a machine I can put a standard 5.25" disk into.

Managed to recover the master PLC programme I was after with Recuva.

Going to try to sort the machine PLC out today into a readable format, I can work through it in the format it is in, but it is much easier to see in ladder and as it only does the I/O, then there are no DB's or FB's clever maths functions or nonsense like that in it, so simple ladder, +/or/ton/toff etc.

All the clever stuff is done by a separate programme in the CNC.

I can't guarantee it but I think I have an old external "hub" into which you could fit an internal 5 1/4" drive etc and connect to an old style pc with a parallel port interface...........any good?
