Hi Steptoe, I cannot say whos device it is as I believe Company names are banned from the forum, mind you so does being disrespectful but unfortunately some members seem to get away with it.

Yes, if the grid voltage fell to 225v then the unit would output at a lower voltage, but the question was for a device at the higher end and inverter cut off points

Steptoe:

Judging by his previous posts, r.e. the workings of his device - it`ll lower it by 20V -

So we must assume that, if exporting, his - sorry, the VO device in question is going to raise it back up by 20V again.

After the last response, I won`t be getting involved - I`m either too thick to "get it"; or just not prepared to put up with being spoken to like that - doesn`t matter.

Mr Smith, I Sincerely apologise to Mr KME if he has taken offense and I will try and keep my future posts a lot less confusing for him, "where is the knitting forum again " :)

my point is that it is then not optimalisation, is it?

if most electrical goods are designed to work at 230v [older goods at 240v] then how can a device that will reduce the voltage to a possible 205v be legally called optimisation?

I dont know,

thats possibly one of the reasons Ive got some of my [temporary] bans and/or warning points,  :C

PM me if you want.

Ok Hunt, lets get a few things straight.

1/ you are clearly a fan of VO, which is fine, but the assembled electrcial expertise of this forum seriuosly doubts the claimed benefits

2/ you are clearly attempting to promote discussion about VO, which is also fine.

However, how about we cut out the crap and you prove to us VO works and is of real benefit, and under what circumstances, as has been requested, because as you have certainly noticed by now, we are not convinced about VO for the domestic market. We can however, certainly see real benefits for some commercial installations, which is why certain members of this forum including me, have fitted VO for commercial works.

NB, don't be fooled by my 'laymans terms' wordings that I like to use - I have an MSc in engineering. I was not purporting that you were a DNO, but in your previous thread you were suggesting using VO units to stop Solar PV raising grid voltages, which, according to your contacts you tell us is a growing issue. Now you are telling us that VO units could actually contribute to that very problem under thoretical conditions that I fully understand, and which are correct. This in turn brings me back to a previous point I have made that most VO manufacturers instructions I have seen suggest connecting of solar array before fitment of a VO unit ( and I've read a few whilst attampting to ascertain whether to recommend VO to my customers). So, at the moment you are presenting conflicting arguments with little factual evidence and a lot of subjector, which in turn will evoke the unfortuante phrase, popular on this forum, of 'snake-oil'. Which is totally understandable given the lack of hard evidence you have yet to present.

Time to present some hard evidence or thoeretically sound arguments Matt.
