Hi

This may be a daft question, but hopfully I can get some advise,

I been asked to see about replacing a consumer unit,

As I looked around the house, in the kitchen is an incoming Gas pipe, a gap

(where a meter would have been) and then the outgoing pipe. (to thr rest of the house) I asume.

Does this need bonding, as normally you are only meant to bond on the consumer side of the meter. but with no meter what happens,

any one had a similar situation?

Thanks

Simon

I would install a cable for bonding and arrange a re visit for connection after the meter was installed. The initial EIC can show that the gas was not bonded and the reasons why it was not. I had a similar experiance a few years ago with water bonding, after my install the property was changed by the lead replacement scheme, which meant that my initial bonding was now defunct, this was one of the properties I used for my assessment, imagine the glee on the assessor when he found that the water was not bonded. Which is another reason why I make full use of comments on all EIC's I issue.
