Going round in circles

Got a customer who wants an isolator fitting to the tails at his house. He's spoke to his electricity supplier (scottish power) who say they don't do it united utilities do (we're in the North West). Spoke to united utilities who say .... we don't do it your electricity supplier does itheadbang.

So he rings me for advice. I rang both companies and both say they don't fit isolators the other does it. Eventually United utilities say an electrician can fit the isolator but the the supply company has to connect it. And guess what the supply co. say........ headbangheadbangheadbangheadbangheadbang

What should I do?

Buy an isolator, pull the fuse and fit it.

If Scottish Power ask United Utilities fitted it and if United Utilities ask Scottish Power fitted it

It should be U.U. as its before the meter.

Keep trying `em, get through to technical bods, they`ll know what you`re asking. If you still have no joy, go to the watchdog, who can force one of them to do it.

As I've said in a few earlier threads , this sort of thing is typical of what we are faced with these days. The Midlands area is the same, bat the ball from one supplier to another. I've had stuff to discuss concerning upgrading the mains etc. with Central Networks, you cannot get to speak to an engineer or anyone with any electrical experience.

Even trying to get an earth on domestic jobs, the words ,wall and banging head against come to mind.

Reference to the OP, what if you went back to the job next week and found that it had been done, and because of the confusion , no one knows who the hell it was. Was it E-on, Metering Services, Central , United Utilities, CEGB, Manweb, SWEB , N Power? Oh well its done now, who cares.?? O)
