Miss Sweedy there will be no escape I'm afraid . However judging by the last 13 World Cups we (as in England) are not expected to be there very long .
Should they actually WIN the cup however , you won't hear the last of it for at least 10 years .

I think we’ve lived off the back of the ‘66 cup for some 52 years and counting
You're right...and we're still winning the war .
However , far be it for me talk about soccer but , I like conspiracy theories . Theres one that says certain people don't want to see England winning anything . (Probably because they won't hear the last of it ) But yet again what happens ? Twice the England striker and captain was wrestled to the ground , in the penalty box during a corner kick ...its a blatant penalty so the ref ...does nothing ...twice. :C Half the world sees it , theres slow motion back up now , but nothing .
They'll be scoring goals against us with their hands next or arresting our captain and accusing him of shoplifting or something . :C
And why ? Because the Russian linesman in the '66 final against Germany who ruled that the ball was over the line had half his family killed by the Germans at Stalingrad or somewhere .
