Rewiring a house this week  & took down 4 of these  3 spot  fittings sold by BDC.  We had a good laugh at how they told you to  bodge up the connections when there were plastic locating prongs on the back of the fitting for the connector.

They had a factory on white Hart lane that made white goods not sure about light fittings but the labelling is very clear ;)
I never knew they used to make anything there. Been in to collect some appliances a few times and it was all warehouse that i saw.  I went past this week, i see its all gone now with a storage facility and a small industrial estate with Screwfix etc there.

We have had a few people who have worked in school that seem to use insulting tape for just about everything.

There are people out there, who are supposedly qualified and get away with it.

They do say what the eyes don't see, the heart don't grieve.

Very poor

Al

There was something on the news ages back about them trying to keep the jobs in London but it was bought out by a Chinese company and everyone lost their jobs... not sure if they made much maybe the odd kettle? Ahh well atleast now there is a Screwfix and a tool station! No wonder nearly all the local hardware stores have gone to.

We used to have a retail shop as well as the contracting. We sold loads of BDC stuff ( i think BDC originated as a company called Teamdale)

I seem to recall all their stuff was either sold under its original name eg DeLonghi. Or badged up as Micromark

I bought a BFO Samsung TV from them years ago, broke after 2 days!

Just saying

Never heard of Teamdale. BDC was the  British Distributing Company, trademark Bridisco (or known locally as the Bangladesh dustbin company). There own brands were Micromark and Powerlec  goods. They did box up all Contactum gear as Micromark.  They were the first importers of Beko & Delonghi. I  have been told they were the first wholesalers that produced a colour full list book of there equipment monthly ( they did a deal where the major manufacturers paid for it)  They also ran a 'true' trade section that i forgotten the name of (Martins maybe ?)

An old customer of mine that died a few years ago told me how he was a salesman for Osram and used to sell BDC light bulbs just after the war.
