I wired a new build about 6 months ago and did the telephone install aswell using a grid socket as the master (phone/TV out/aerial).

Now the client has only just got the phone line connected, Openreach connected straight into my grid socket and everything seemed to be ok, when they subsequently got broadband it wouldn't work at all!!! I went in today to change the master socket.... still didn't work,,, so I did a simple shift - using a BT master in the second socket and a secondary grid phone socket instead of the master...

It all works great now!!B-)B-)B-)B-)

They only normally like to use there own masters. Trouble using others you can't really test line and if you get faults on it you are stuffed.

on the few times ive installed phone lines round the house, it has been fed from an NTE5, so no issues with disconnecting it
