I'm surprised they got a system like this past the BS regs in a domestic environment.

Problem I would say is it's not clearing the fault, hence only treating the symptoms and probably only temporarily. Saying that I guess it's only following in the questionable tradition set by the latest UK regs in ruling that steel CU's are used in the first place so why not?

I remember seeing another CU retrofit several months ago that was also some kinda fire protection so there's probably going to be more of these things in the future.

 
Okay, I've decided to design a system that can both suppress the fire and clear the fault.

It's still in the design stage but I think I've got all the basics covered. Constructive suggestions welcome.
