I passed my 236 1&2 in back in 1991 on the 15th edition of the IEE regs and also a BTEC NC in electrical engineering. I then took what I thought would be a temporary post with the soon to be privatised British Rail telecoms dept and stayed for nearly 19 years through various sales and takeovers until May this year when the axe fell and I was made redundant. My electrical knowledge is somewhat out of date so please excuse the obvious questions. I am also in the middle of a bathroom refurb and struggling like a good'n to interpret some of the new regs. I am considering updating to the 17th in the quest for employment but have held off at the moment after attending my compulsory " Back to employment" meeting only to find myself sitting next to an electrician in a similar predicament to me.
