Hi.
A long story! I was called up for National Service in 1948 and joined the Royal Artillery on 3.7 ack ack. Three months after demob, I joined the Royal Air Force and went through the electrician/air course. Worked on Avro Lincolns (Thats the Lancasters big brother) Then we received the Canberra, what a beauty. I then went on the fitters course, all of six months and came back with an upside down stripe and a higher national diploma. The squadron was then sent on detachment to Malaya, dropping 1.000 pounders on the terrs. 617 Squadron was then disbanded to form a Vulcan Squadron and I went to ASF. I wanted to sign on for another nine but my then wife put her foot down, I put mine down and traded her in for a far better model!!!
I also did thrty years in Air Cadets in Warant rank. Now living in Scotland and help out at the local aviation museum, at present I'm working on a Link Trainer, not bad for knocking on eighty.
