hi

my son is very interested in studying electrics.  he has been trying to find an apprentiship in this field but so far hasn't been able  to.  he has signed on at college to do diploma level 2 in electrical installations at a cost of £1900 over two years which is ok but ideally he would like to be taken on as an apprentice in order to do NVQ2 and hopefully NVQ3.

he is 20 years old and  has recently passed his CSCS test.

does anyone know of any firms who are taking on apprentices in electrics

i would so appreciate any advice or info you can give

many thanks

hello steptoe, thanks

sorry should have said, we live in dagenham (i can only apologise for that)

I know that this might sound harsh, it is not meant that way.....

Your son should be the one asking this question, HE needs to show that HE really wants it IYKWIM

I wish him luck in his search for an apprenticeship

Does he drive?
no

Hi nozspark, no it doesn't sound harsh at all.  You're quite right.  He has tried JTL and various others.  He also got another lead today for a firm in south london to try.  Thing is he works as a door to door canvasser at the moment simply because he will work at anything rather than not work (this is while he's waiting for college course to start, he has to attend enrolment next week), and he didn't get in till late tonight and fell asleep shortly afterwards.  I only came across this site by chance and just thought I'd jump on and ask  just to see if i could get him any additional info.  .  I know what you mean though and take your point on board.  I wouldn't want it to look like mummy's wiping his bum for him, what with him being 20 years old -

thanks for the reply

Naam is a bit far out :(  As well as looking for jobs for him on here probably should get him driving it would be advantageous!

Pewter is probably nearest member to you (Leigh on sea) he may know of somewhere/someone???

20 is the right age ;)

Best of luck :)
