Hi

I've recently moved into a new home - in the front room there is a box on the wall at the side of the Alarm sensor which looks like a retro cassette tape  (obviously it isn't!) it is plastic and cream in colour with the word 'KiNETIE' CE on it and below a code/serial number KSB1A.

I have a photo but cannot upload it onto here (any tips  how to do this gratefully received ...)

There is a constant ticking/clicking noise that appears to come from this box which is very noticeable when the room is quiet the only way I can describe this sound is like a field or box full of crickets ...

Any ideas as to what this box is would be great thanks in advance

Hi ,

yes that's the one! I've googled for days and not been able to find it anywhere ! Thank you so much!

Now , does anyone know why it's making this awful sound?

The driver circuit is not happy and is sort of turning the sounder on and off. Might be time for a new alarm, or move the sounder to another alarm output if possible.

cheers, Paul

p.s. to post a photo, upload it to https://i.imgsafe.org then use the "insert other media" button. Once you have posted a few times you will get an option to upload photos directly.

Are you sure you haven't been trying to use the microwave. I just Googled KSB1A and the page is full of results and image search has nothing but pictures of it. It does beg the question, what exactly were you trying to do?

Either interference from other electrical cables or the alarm panel is doing something it shouldn't, either because of a faulty output or poor installation methods.

If you have just moved in and have no idea on the history of the alarm I would suggest getting it serviced before you start using it.

most likely a fault with the alarm. you should get it serviced if it hasnt already been done. for a start, the backup batteries dont last forever and if you get a power cut then you wont be very popular with the neighbours when the alarm is sounding at 3am and you cant stop it...
