Hi, I have a couple lamps that have different shaped plugs than they would normally have.

Unfortunately this means they don't fit into the plugs on my wall, hence a nightmare trying to turn them on.

Fortunately, as a solution to this problem, I have decided to order some adaptors online.

But this only brings up another problem - I am not sure which ones to buy.

These are images of the plugs in question. As you can see one is normal, and the other is abnormal.

If anyone is able to point me in the right direction in which adaptor I need to/should be purchasing I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you all.

providing the wiring to the lamp is correct (i.e 3 core if its a class I fitting), then the simplest way is to change the plug to a normal 13a plug with appropriate fuse

Hi and thank you for your reply.

How difficult would it be to change the plug myself? Also, is it likely to be safe to use if I change it myself.

Thanks

cant answer how difficult it would be for you. if you have a few basic tools (screwdriver, cutters) then go for it. as for adapters, they are not really a standard thing, but should beavailable. the round pin plugs are in different ratings (physical size is different). it should say on the plug what rating it is

Okay thanks, I may just give it a go my self. Will look better without adaptors.

I bought wire cutters to cut speaker cable recently, so I presume these will do the job.

Thank you for your help.
