hey guys bit of help required!

im upgrading a 16th edition wylex board to a dual rcd.... ive put the new rcd in next to the main switch but its not tripping when i test (multi testers and Yellow test sw) yet a certain mcb protected by it wen i turn it on trips it out?? and the rest of the circuits are workin fine

ive linked out the load side of the main switch at the bottom, to the supply side of the rcd and the load neutral link to the neutral bar.....have i gotta play about with the 2nd rcd links? much help with be brilliant as i need to get a part p cert from my boss for it either tonite or tomoro!!!!!! hellllllp!!!!

Are you SURE you have the input and output the correct way round? and are you SURE you have the correct polarity.

With only the INPUT side connected it should trip on it's own test button, if not it is probably faulty.

P.S why are you doing this? Personally if being forced to RCD a circuit you are updating, I would use an RCBO instead.

Most 16th edition boards are not designed to have two RCD's as they only have two neutral bars you need three for a 17th edition boaard with two RCD's.

not quite.... you only need 3 neutral bars if your using a dual split and RCBOs. if its just 2 RCDs, then you only need 2 neutral bars

I think that`s what he`s aimed for, but he doesn`t describe shifting the 2nd RCD neutral connection to the main switch.

TBH, if you aren`t sure you`ve got the main distribution cables sorted (and, from your post, you seem to suggest you haven`t altered the connections on the original RCD), then it may be a suggestion to get it looked at by someone with a little more knowledge?

No offence intended
