I'm new to the forum as ive recently 'qualified'. Having said that, after completing my course and now looking for jobs, i feel like im a million miles away from ever being able to work as a spark!!

I have got my 17th edition and part P along with the 2392, but i did them with a private company and my practical skills are at a minimum. Im looking for a way to get some job experience, but have had no joy what so ever!

does anybody have any tips for me?

any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum ChopperEvs.

Great to see another Welshie.

Greetings from West Glamorgan.

:D

HI mate , was in exactly the same position 3 years ago it is a bit daunting starting out. Best thing that I did was just to try and pick up any days you can with any one in trade but this was a hard job in itself and most of time it was for free, yet when people saw I was serious about doing the job and learning the practical aspects(not thinking I knew it all by passing my exams) some paying work started coming in which leads to more things to the point where I now doing ok job count wise and still learning every day.

So good luck with it mate and welcome to the best forum around :)

Oh No !! not another Welshie , :_| ( Only joking Chopper ) ;) ; ) Can't offer any advice on this one ,work is hard to come by at the moment , can only say don't give up , you are halfway there with your quallies , just need to drop lucky with some practical experience.

Hello and welcome :)

Can you sing? (we're starting a choir, you see)

In regards:

but have had no joy what so ever!does anybody have any tips for me?
I understand velcro gloves offer an advantage, as do wellies (somewhere to trap the back feet). Maybe best to start at a leisure centre (tied to lamppost) before working up to 'wild' ones.

:D

(sorry)

:D

Thanks for all the responses! its nice to know im not the only one thats been in this position.

i was looking at getting a JIB card recently, but there are a bucket load of of cards available. With the qualifications i have, does anybody know which card would be most applicable for me to get? i rang them up and the woman i spoke to was the opposite of helpfull.

sadly, i can't sing a note, i have a voice for the shower and a face for radio, so i'll skip the choir!!

Even with your qualifications JIB will classify as a (deep breath) Senior graded eletrical trainee, they woman I spoke to said they will always class you as a trainee until you complete a NVQ regardless of other quallies.

Thats fine - i wouldnt regard myself as anything other than a trainee anyway...until i get a few years experience. i just didnt wanna send all the paperwork away with a cheque, and be told i'd gone for the wrong thing. Thanks for the response, much more of a help than the bird at the JIB!!

I thought the same !! On renewing my card after the doing the H&Safety scam I noticed my N/Insurance No. was wrong , phoned up ,woman bit my head off and said they don't use them anymore for security reasons . Well I wasn't to know that was I !!!
