Hi

my house alarm sometimes resets itself and then starts to do the countdown that they do before they go off, I have no idea why this is happening as all the power in the house stays on nothing trips out when it happens. It really just seems to be the alarm.

I have checked all the obvious things so wonder if this is down to a fault on the alarm itself.

any ideas? headbang

batteries are often deformed (side trying to expand) when they are past their use by date. any good installer will have wrote the date on the battery too - they should be replace 5 years max, sometimes less

If the battery is goosed then there's a fair chance it's taken the panel with it as well so changing a knackered battery may not leave a completely reliable system afterwards.

Of course, it may not have been that reliable before the battery failed.......
