I'm moving my account across to Abbey because it's free banking, where as Barclays are now stinging me with charges.

I will let you know I'm calling in to the branch later today for a chat.

tell me about it, whats abbey like
Crap....

they do not have business counters in their branches

you can deposit cheques in their machines 4 days clearance

Cash is 2 days max

postal cheques 6 days

no bank charges though

thinking of changing

no such thing as a business loan with them :(

I have used Barclays, verdict rubbish, Yorkshire, probably the worst, and I am now with HSBC, mainly for the free 12 months they gave me.

Thats why I have been with Barclays...the 18months free banking being the entice r..but now getting whacked with upto

any one use Alliance + Leicester ???
Yep, me. Have been with them for 3years, still got free banking :) . The account is a postal set-uo to Liverpool (the old GIRO bank address), but you can also bank (for free) at any post-office :) , although all this really does is delay the mail by another day :( . I never go overdrawn, and wouldn't want to having seen the charges :( . Online banking is available but has to be applied for and takes a month to set-up, which is strangely crap considering how many accounts you can open over the internet :( . Overall they haven't caused me any problems, but I do feel the service / features is nothing like as good as my current account, which is probably a feature of all business accounts ?:|

I've banked with Natwest for years , their monthly charges are not too much. \They asign a business manager to you , although I have'nt used their services they seem professional.

By the way , did I mention that I had a :x from Mrs Admin ;)

I don't even have a business account, i'm working from a personnal current account.

Are there benefits from having a business account???

You are on free banking then but they usually sus you out, start asking if you are running a business, they are after the monthly charges to administer your account. Keep it like that if you can get away with it .

I use Abbey personal account have done since I started over 10 years ago. As said in previous posts used to be a milkman they used to charge 30-40p a cheque to pay in cost a fortune. I cannot see any advantage of having a business account and will carry on with my personal account for as long as I can.

Actually I would like to see how far this thread goes because for small firms this is a very important part of being successfull.

Without banks being behind you you are doomed.

To be fair you own them now, but you would not think it would you.
