Hello all.

I thought I would post this here even though I am not a new member.

I used to be a very active member both here and in the electrical community in general, but then I became very disillusioned with the online aspect of the electrical trade as a whole and distanced myself from it. Every now and then though, I would waft in like a bad smell, say hello and then clear off again.

Three years ago, I took a job in a local FE college and now I teach both electrical apprentices and full-time students. For the second time in my life I am an apprentice studying for my level 5 CertEd. It's a ball ache at my time of life, but I enjoy my job. Funny thing is, I primarily teach the one part of my electrical apprenticeship that I failed the first time round; electrical principles. Hated it then, love it now so I'll be keeping an eye on the learning section.

I don't know how many of the old crew are still here, but it would be nice to say hello and catch up. Seems slower here than it used to, I wonder if that's down to the huge amount of Facebook groups that exist.

It's all changed here as it's been sold......still,some old faces but Deke Evans Electric passed away twelve months ago, and Tony about two,years ago. Lots of new faces BUT some right pillocks! Seriously you wouldn't believe some of them, but you'll soon suss them out. I blame the baseball capped YouTube wannabe Sparks

Yes, I was deeply saddened by the loss of Deke.

Now tell me, am I the only one who gets frustrated with these YewToob sparkies referring to consumer units as fuse boards? I am forever correcting my apprentices over this and asking them to show me where exactly the fuses are located.

Nope, but I tend to use fuse-board as customers undrstand what that is. Never did like Consumer Unit, sounds like you should eat it!

Personally I think 99.9% of the YouTube wannabe, baseball cap, poncy van, private plated, new tooled up, logos T shirt Sparklets are W️S. Others may have a different view, they are wrong, they need to have a word with themselves and deal with it

Can't say I've watched any of them, although I did watch a video on testing EV charge points the other day. I could have quite happily slapped that knob.

I had to go and look, but I think I know who you mean, every single thumb-nail never really noticed it before. Its his company name that irks me though, some of the things he does just dont feel like they should be under that banner!
