I'm talking about the sort of switch the OP is after... for that to illuminate when the switch is on, will require a neutral (unless its in series  )Agree for it to illuminate when off, a "changeover" arrangement would suffice - but again not be ideal - give me a neutral anyday!

O.
Indeed an illumination when the light is on would require the illuminated neon to be in parallel with the bulb.

For the benefit of those NOT familiar with these neon illuminated light switches for connection with just live & switched live.:-

The normal illuminated switches are for finding a switch in the dark.

the neon is actually in parallel with the switch contacts thus in series with the bulb.

so when the switch is off the neon completes a series circuit:-

from live to neon to light bulb to neutral.

Due to the neons high resistance most of the voltage is dropped across the neon and minimal current is left flowing through the bulb, insufficient to light the bulb.

When the switch is ON the neon has a short circuit in parallel with it, so all power goes to the bulb.

for neon to be on while bulb is on would need a neutral...

or wire it between live & earth... NOT Recommended! :|

HiDoes anyone know where I can source a two gang white plastic light switch that has neons or some other sort of illumination when the circuits are on. (Aged customer keeps leaving the fan and the light on in her bathroom!)
surley it needs to be a pull cord unless it is a big bathroom

It doesn't need to be that big.. ?:|

600mm (60cm) to the side of a bath or shower is OUTSIDE of the zones therefore if you wanted you could put a wall switch... :)

I probably wouldn't....

but you could if you so wished. ;)
