Hello to all. Joined as need somewhere to ask all the little questions as do not meet any electricians as one man band working just about full time on my daughter's many roomed mansion at present. Did 5 year apprenticeship in joinery many years ago and worked many years doing same though enjoyed short breaks as a bus conductor, steel worker on forgings, and a longer period as RMN just to add variety. Now back doing what I thought would be a relaxing time, but being older I suppose it takes me twice as long and twice the effort.

Anyhow! Did a domestic installer course as things getting too involved without as always having to do other works to complete my own etc. Seems I picked one of the better centres as there was no spoon feeding of answers, if you didn't know you failed which some did. Now I've got an Elecsa inspector coming week tomorrow, Friday, so have to post a question about Gs38 leads now before its too late. Hope enough info here for present?

Welcome aboard. Good luck with assessment. Good choice, I'm with ELECSA too.

Ian.

Welcome, I'm sure smeone here will be able to answer you question when you get time to ask? :D By the way good luck with your asessment, remember they want you to pass

Thanks, they must want me to pass if they pass me! Could not cope with all the extra criteria some other bodies are imposing at even more cost in getting started. My main aim is to do my daughter's house and mine safely in the first instance. If okay when finished then fine, I may continue as add on to my other works but will not be just doing electrical so cannot afford to pay hand over fist as not main income.

Welcome to the forum ask anything you like we all try to help out as for GS38!

In March 1988 The Health and Safety executive (HSE)

introduced a recommendation document GS38 for

electricians test leads.

This was to introduce guidlines for the safe testing of live installations, the recommendations where mainly to prevent injury or death when live testing, fused probes, minimum exposed probe points where all introduced at this time.

A quick google will I am sure get you the relevant document up.

Not quite we need to know

  1. What vehicle do you drive?
  2. Do you have a regional accent?
  3. How tall are you?
  4. If you are going on holiday this year?
  5. Any pets?
  6. How do you like your steak?

Apache, last went on holiday in reliant as not too tall to fit in as burdened down with work, Whilst there ordered a steak every evening using a different regional accent every time, kicked the dog when I got one that was under-cooked. Special Location, how on earth did you know my tendencies unless you've seen me in that little club you like?
