I want to replace my gas hob with an induction hob.  I have a 13amp supply at the back of the unit which I could use but haven't found a hob which will run on 13amp that I like and am also a bit dubious about whether they work as well as ones that run on 30amps.

I have an electric cooker which runs on its own supply with an on/off switch can I add the hob to that or do I need to install another 30amp supply for the hob separately.  I ask because it occurs to me that if I put a freestanding oven in with hotplates presumably it would be ok to just connect to that one 30amp supply

Thanks for any help anyone might be able to give.

Devils advocate, but if you have gas, nothing in the world would make me swap a gas hob for any form of electric hob.

What Blue Duck is hinting at is if your existing oven is a low power one, it might be possible to feed that elsewhere to free up it's supply for the hob.

Many induction hobs have settings to limit their power but that inevitable means poorer performance and things taking longer to boil.

My missus only ever uses 2 rings on the induction hob at any one time tbh and then never at full whack. Mind ours is 7kW jobbie on a 30A breaker.

There are induction jobs on the market which come with a 13a plug fitted in the factory
