hello chaps,

customers inline fan sounds like it is about to pack up so have to quote for a new one, question is does it have to be timer controlled? it currently has an isolator and a pull switch on the wall to turn it on/off. all i need to replace is the fan.

the bath room has a window if that makes any differance.

thanks

Is the current fan a timer one?

Is the window an opening one?

TBH it's very rare that I fit anything other than a timed fan... I feel that they are a bit more effective as they are on longer! - you can always turn the timer down;)

Yes , override timer for bathrooms , it needs to run long enough to clear the condensation .I don't think the window comes into it . (Thats what LBC said)
LBC...? Is that 'Larry', Brians cousin? :C

:|

Approved document F (ventilation).

page 16

table 1.5

"In a room with no openable window fans should have a 15 minute overrun!"

or words to that effect! :|

However..

in this particular case as its not new build work..

there is no requirement to comply with Approve doc F..

Not retrospective! Like 4 Like maintenance! :D ;)

as the saying goes! :Salute

just a thought, if i get a timer fan and the one there has no timer will the wiring still be ok? ie.. no switch live. im sure the one there was running of twin so would presume it has no timer.

thanks for the advice.

yes window opens

just replace like for like

i only keep stock of timer fans - not much extra from normal fan, and easy to use without the timer feature.

also saves space in the van
