I agree its often easier and much safer but my point was you can not know its more accurate if its not measured.

it is measured, you measure 2 things then add them together, what is so difficult about that to understand?

whereas on a triplock Zs you are testing at very low current so not as accurate, read the manufacturers data sheets.

Again, missing the point. You can not calculate something then claim its measured no matter where you get the data for the calculation from.

just wondering how you measure the floor area of a room then?

Im not missing the point ian, but I think you are being a little pedantic now.

how do you measure the PFC of a 3phase installation if you dont do any calculations?

wow, seems I have been getting it wrong forever,Ive always been X1.732 even on my cross phase measurements. :Blushing
It would be that way if you have to do..

L1-N

L2-N

L3-N

Where as you can do

L1-L2

L1-L3

L2-L3

With my megger

Unless I've got it wrong:(

no, I think you have it correct, I do that too with my fluke, and my previous fluke, and metrel and seaward, but I have always done x1.732 .

never got pulled for it either on assessments.!!!!!

it does seem to stem from the old meters not doing cross phase measurements.

even GN3 (the old one I have to hand anyway) states to X2 the readings,,,,,,,,,,,,

havent looked further to see if it makes any distinction between how the reading is taken, getting late and my other one is out in the van.
