March edition of Professional Electrician, interesting letter titled "Down Under"

He says if you go to Oz as a Sparks you have to take an exam , cost

its a costly business Deke, but methinks that guy may have sour grapes,

its not that cut and dried to be honest, and yes, you have to pay to take an exam, or 5! and work under a Licenced spark for at least a year, then do another exam to prove your competence,

most of the guys that dont stay are the exam failures!

from my own investigations into this something like 90% on fails from UK sparks are people that have done short courses, and most of those dont even make it past the first 3 months where the basic exams are being done!

maybe we should learn something from this!
